How To Get Rid of A Yeast Infection
The easiest way to get rid of yeast infection is to make sure you never get one in the first place. Please read my articles about yeast infection causes and how to prevent yeast infection.
Yeast is a very aggressive organism in the body. Normally, even though you might never think about it, you’re very glad it’s there. Your digestion and your immune systems rely on yeast for many different everyday functions. But when yeast starts growing out of control, either on your skin or inside your body, the symptoms can range from unpleasant, to dangerous.
There’s no doubt about it – if you have a yeast infection, you need to get rid of it.
Getting Rid of a Vaginal Yeast Infection
The vaginal yeast infection is, by far, the most prevalent kind. Many different kinds of vaginal yeast infection treatments exist. So long as the problem is caught early, and barring any other health problems or pregnancy, over the counter medication works fine for most women. Such treatments will get rid of yeast infection symptoms in a week or less.
However, unless you understand the cause behind the Candida overgrowth, you risk re-infection.
It is now believed that Candida infections can be transmitted sexually. Most women will experience pain during sex if they have a vaginal yeast infection, but even if you don’t, it’s best to either abstain until the infection clears, or at the very least, warn your partner.

Getting Rid of Skin Yeast Infections
Yeast infections of the skin are usually associated with children – especially diaper rash. Still, anybody can get this kind of Candida infection. Moist, warm areas of skin, skin that folds over or touches itself, etc – all these areas can become a breeding ground for yeast.
The first step to getting rid of these infections is better hygiene. You want to scrub the skin clean, remove dirt and oils, avoid any chemicals that might irritate, and keep the skin dry. Normally, this will reverse the yeast infection all by itself.
However, for more severe cases, for your baby’s diaper rash, and especially for yeast infections that become painful to the touch, you’ll want to look into topical yeast infection medications. More details about how to get rid of yeast infections on the skin can be found in my article on yeast infection treatment.
In short, you’ll be purchasing an over-the-counter cream that uses clotrimazole as its active ingredient, and you may also want a barrier cream to ease the skin pain.
How to Get Rid of Thrush (Oral Yeast Infection)
Thrush is a yeast infection in the mouth, tongue and throat. Products containing nystatin are popular for sufferers of any age group, and there are other products that are safe for adults. Combined with careful oral hygiene, you can get rid of a thrush infection fairly quickly using those products.
